The first temple to be built in Heredia was built in 1714; that were made of guachipelin horcones and thatched roof. On October 31, 1797, the first stone of the new temple that the Heredians had to build was laid, which is the one that currently exists. It is not known who made the plans for the temple, but there is no doubt that there is a very strong Nicaraguan influence in the architectural design of this work.
