CHURCH OF CARMEN

The drawing represents the church of Carmen with its appearance prior to 1943, since the current one was completed in 1945 and presents another appearance. The history of this church dates back to February 1823. Due to its size and high cost, this work took many years to be built and completed. We know that it was inaugurated on July 16, 1874, thirteen years after its inception. Without the lordship of the Parish, the church of Carmen has a lot of intimacy and familiarity for the Heredian. The design, quite similar to that of the previous temple, was made by the Heredian Eng. Samuel Sáenz Flores. When the new temple was inaugurated in 1945, it was reborn on the ashes of its past, to perpetuate itself in its neighborhood and leave alive the affection and identity that its presence has for more than a century and a half of the city.
