Escuela República de Argentina, the place where this old building still stands that in Heredia we still know today as Escuela República Argentina, is steeped in history. There once existed, in the first years of Independence, the first barracks in the current city. Around 1868 and 1869, when the young Cleto González Víquez was a student in Heredia, he received his classes in Latin and Spanish there. The Plans were made by the Government in the Directorate General of Public Works, under the hands of the French engineer León Tessier.
